Description Maciej Cytowski 2018-06-01 02:34:25 MDT
Dear SchedMD Support Team,

our system has multiple partitions related to few different architectures (broadwell, knl, gpus). Although we are aware that it is possible to use different weights for those partitions we would instead prefer to setup grpTRES=cpu limitation only for a single partition.

Is this available? or will that be available in future?
Maybe there exist another solution that you might suggest..

Basically the end solution should be limiting the % of the total number of cores used by a single user at a given time (but only on a single partition).

Kind regards,
Maciej

Hi

the best way to set per partition limit is to use partition Qos:
https://slurm.schedmd.com/qos.html#partition
https://slurm.schedmd.com/SLUG15/Partition_QOS.pdf
Let me know if this matches your requirements.

Hi Dominik,
thanks for this. I was not aware of qos per partition settings and that grptres=cpu could be applied on that level. We will have a look at it.
Regards,
Maciej

Hi

Any news?
Did you have a chance to test partition Qos?

Dominik

Hi Dominik,

we didn't test it so far. But it answers our question.
So I guess that you can close this one/

Many thanks again,
Maciej
